A closer look at the mechanics behind clean, controlled spinning on straps. I start with two-arm work, building control and body awareness, and progress to one-arm spinning for those ready for it.

Waist Rolling on Straps
Intermediate–Advanced Aerialist

Waist rolling is one of the most visually striking skills on straps, and one that's often misunderstood. This workshop breaks down the c-shaping technique behind it — I'll cover how to start the movement, keep control through it, and make it repeatable.

What I cover
Rolling up the straps from a straight jacket/cross arm front balance · Rope-style front balance rolling technique · C-shaping mechanics and body positioning
Prerequisites
Strong active flexibility in back bends, side bends, hip extension, hip flexion, and hip external/internal rotation · Able to complete 3–5 inverted pull-ups in candlestick/pencil or straddle position

Crucifix Roll-Ups
Intermediate–Advanced Aerialist

An old-school classic straps skill. This workshop breaks down the mechanics of the crucifix roll-up, working on each stage of the roll to build a confident, controlled movement.

What I cover
Drills for each phase of the roll-up · Understanding what makes the movement work · Linking roll-ups · Entries and exits (for more advanced students)
Prerequisites
Minimum 6 months regular straps or calisthenics training · Comfortable straps inversion without assistance (skin-the-cat included) · Support hold or straight-arm dip for 5 seconds · Basic scapular stability under load · No current acute shoulder or rotator cuff issues · Able to do a forward roll — yes, really

Dynamic Pathways to and From S-Wrap
Intermediate

S-wraps are a useful way to rest mid-sequence without it being obvious to the audience. This workshop covers a variety of ways to get in and out of an S-wrap through different dynamic pathways. This is largely an open wrap class.

Prerequisites
Able to invert in the air repeatedly throughout the workshop, ideally with straight arms · Some experience of swinging on vertical apparatus · Confident 2-arm meathook with correct scapular positioning · Secure back balance on verticals · Confident taking open drops
